Field heating FC Groningen
On behalf of Magnum Projects in Tholen, Van Kaam KTL installed the field heating in the new FC Groningen stadium.

A pipeline network was installed approximately 25 cm under what would ultimately be the new grass mat. The pipelines were laid in the field at 250 mm intervals; the trenches were dug in cooperation with the Van Vliet company in Ter Aar.

It was decided that PE-RT pipes would be used for the field pipes: high-quality, diffusion-sealed and perfect for welding to the HDPE pipes. A total of 33 kilometers of these pipes were drawn into the field. The main pipeline is made of HDPE. The supply and discharge lines are made of Ø160mm and Ø125mm pipes. The pipes are connected by means of mirror welds and electro-weld joints.

The supply and discharge lines are both located on the same side of the field. All of the pipes are connected on the other side with electro-weld joints.

The polyfusion method was used to connect the field pipelines to the main pipelines. The small field pipes are welded into the main pipelines.

Field heat Real Madrid
After the successful installation of the field heating pipelines for the new FC Groningen stadium "Euroborg", Van Kaam KTL was asked by SUPPORT PARTNERS IN SPORT (SIS) to install the field heating pipelines for the Real Madrid training center. On behalf of Real Madrid, SIS finished five natural grass fields with sports strip sods from its nursery in Portugal.

At this training center with a total of 12 fields, it was determined that one field would be equipped with field heating. Thanks to the heating system, the new training center can be used throughout the entire year. PP-R material was selected for the field heating. The field lines were delivered on spools, meaning that each pipeline in the field consists of one section; these are not compiled from different sections. The polyfusion method was used to connect the pipelines to the main pipeline and to the other side of the field.

The pipes were laid at a depth of 0.25 cm under the future grass mat with a center-to-center distance of 0.20 cm. A total of nearly 43 kilometers of pipes was laid under the grass mat. Pipes with a diameter of Ø25mm were drawn into the field in a pattern that followed the shape of the field's roof. While drawing the pipes, five pipes were drawn simultaneously. The activities, performed in partnership with SIS and the J. Van Vliet company in Ter Aar, took a total of only four work days.

After the field heating system was installed, the field was leveled and equipped with the final grass mat.
